Bosch Motorsport Data Loggers

Bosch Motorsport Data Loggers — C70 and C80

The Bosch Motorsport C70 and C80 are standalone professional data loggers for circuit racing, endurance, hill climb, and rally applications. Both units connect to any ECU or sensor network via CAN and Ethernet, log data independently of the ECU’s own channels, and deliver all recorded data into WinDarab V7 for post-session analysis. Both models use a field-upgradeable software key system — extended storage partitions, USB data recording, and ECU protocol access are activated in the field without returning the unit to Bosch.

C70 — Compact Standalone Logger

The C70 provides 4 GB of internal storage with 1,500 channels at 1,000 Hz as standard — no software upgrade required for full-rate logging. A 667 MHz dual-core processor handles on-device mathematical channel calculation in real time: filter functions, conditional channels, and derived variables are stored without post-processing on the analysis workstation. LTE Ethernet telemetry and GSM telemetry are both included in the base C70 configuration. GPS lap triggering connects via the RS232 port. An optional second 4 GB partition (FULL_LOG_2 software key) extends total storage to 8 GB for back-to-back sessions without downloading between runs.

C80 — High Channel Count Logger and Sensor Interface

The C80 provides 26 analog and 4 digital inputs for direct sensor wiring — pressure, temperature, position, and speed inputs connect without a separate signal conditioning module. Primary storage is 16 GB; an optional second partition adds 4 GB for 20 GB total. The base C80 configuration records 100 channels at 20 Hz; the FULL_LOG_1 software key upgrades this to 1,500 channels at 1,000 Hz. An optional CCP/XCP-master upgrade enables the C80 to query internal calibration variables directly from third-party ECUs over CAN — useful in applications where the ECU is series-mandated and Bosch hardware provides the data acquisition layer. The C80 is also available as a sensor interface variant.

Software Upgrades for Bosch Motorsport Loggers

All field upgrades are delivered as software keys entered into the device — no hardware modification or factory return required.

Upgrade Applies to What it unlocks
FULL_LOG_1 C80, DDU displays 1,500 channels / 1,000 Hz on Partition 1
FULL_LOG_2 C70 Activates second 4 GB partition for back-to-back sessions
USB Data C70, C80 USB flash drive data copy during pit stop
CCP/XCP-master C80 Direct query of third-party ECU internal variables via CAN

FAQ

Do the C70 and C80 work with non-Bosch ECUs?

Yes. Both loggers connect to any CAN-capable ECU. Standard DBC or A2L files define the channel mapping. The C80’s optional CCP/XCP-master upgrade enables direct calibration-variable access from ECUs supporting those protocols. Common third-party ECUs used with Bosch loggers include Emtron, Link ECU, MoTeC, and ECUmaster.

What is the standard logging rate on the C70?

The C70 ships with full logging enabled as standard: 1,500 channels at 1,000 Hz on 4 GB Partition 1 — no software key required. The only optional logging upgrade for the C70 is FULL_LOG_2, which activates a separate 4 GB partition for extended back-to-back recording without downloading between sessions.

What is the difference between FULL_LOG_1 and FULL_LOG_2?

FULL_LOG_1 upgrades the C80 from its 100 ch / 20 Hz base rate to 1,500 channels at 1,000 Hz on Partition 1 — it also applies to DDU displays. FULL_LOG_2 applies to the C70 and activates a second 4 GB partition. They are separate upgrade keys for different devices and different functions; check the product title before purchasing.

How is data downloaded from the C70 or C80?

Standard download is via high-speed Ethernet connection to a laptop running WinDarab V7. The optional USB Data upgrade enables data copy to a USB flash drive during a pit stop — standard practice in endurance racing to avoid data loss during an unplanned session end.

Does the C70 or C80 include GPS hardware?

Neither logger includes a GPS receiver. Both support GPS-triggered lap timing and track position via an external GPS receiver connected through the RS232 port. Contact XTRA Motorsport for compatible GPS receiver options.
