Raychem SCL 1/4″ Heat Shrink Tubing (20cm)

Raychem SCL 1/4″ is a dual-wall adhesive heat shrink tubing with an inside diameter of 6.4 mm as supplied, recovering to 2.0 mm at a 3:1 shrink ratio. The dual-wall construction combines a semi-rigid outer wall with a meltable adhesive inner liner. When heated, the outer wall shrinks while the inner liner flows to fill voids and bond to the substrate, forming a moisture-tight, electrically insulating seal around wire splices, breakouts, and mechanical connections. SCL is black and unaffected by most solvents and chemicals. Installation temperature is 135 °C. Sold in 20 cm pre-cut sticks — one stick per unit ordered.

When to Use SCL

SCL is the correct choice when the joint or connection must be sealed against moisture, fluid ingress, or corrosion. The adhesive liner eliminates the need for separate sealant at splice points.

• Wire splices — mid-harness butt splices that must meet IP67 or similar sealing
• Breakout points — pinch the sleeve while hot to close a branch opening; the adhesive seals the pinch point without additional compound
• Connector backshell strain relief — applied over the cable exit of a connector to provide both mechanical strain relief and environmental sealing

SCL is not flame retardant. Do not use in locations requiring FR-rated materials — use Raychem DR-25 or HTAT instead.
