Suitable Applications
- Intercooler outlet pipe to turbo compressor inlet connection
- Intercooler pipe to throttle body transition
- Coolant hose diameter transition between different size spigots
- Charge air pipe routing between mismatched components
Not Suitable For
Do not use in fuel delivery, fuel return, or oil lines. Silicone is not resistant to hydrocarbons. For fuel or oil lines, use PTFE-lined hose.
How a Reducer Hose Works
A reducer hose has two different internal diameters — one at each end. It connects two pipes of different sizes in a straight line without a separate adapter fitting. Select the size where the large end matches your larger pipe and the small end matches your smaller pipe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which end fits which pipe?
The larger-ID end fits the larger pipe; the smaller-ID end fits the smaller pipe. Flow direction does not matter.
Is there a 90° reducer elbow available?
Yes — see SFS Performance 90° Elbow Reducer Black. Changes both direction and diameter in one piece.
What clamps are needed?
Two hose clamps — one for each end. Use clamps whose range covers the outside diameter of the hose at each end. T-bolt clamps are preferred for charge air systems.
Can a reducer hose correct minor pipe misalignment?
Yes, within approximately 5–10° of axial misalignment. The hose is flexible enough to bridge pipes that are slightly off-centre.
