What Is the Bosch Motorsport MSA-Box 2?
The Bosch Motorsport MSA-Box 2 is the PC communication interface that connects a Windows laptop to the Bosch Motorsport electronics stack — ABS units, ECUs, data loggers, DDU displays, and PBX power distribution modules. It links over USB 2.0 on the PC side and CAN, 100 Mbit Ethernet, or K-Line on the vehicle side, with all vehicle I/O galvanically isolated from the PC. Without the MSA-Box 2, Bosch Motorsport ABS and ECU systems cannot be accessed for setup, calibration, or diagnostics — making it the one piece of hardware every team running Bosch Motorsport electronics needs. The configuration software (RaceABS, RaceCon, WinDarab, Modas Sport) is a free download from Bosch Motorsport; the MSA-Box 2 is the physical link that the software talks through.

What You Can Do With It
- Calibrate Bosch Motorsport ABS M4 and M5 in RaceABS — vehicle parameters, brake bias, intervention levels, pressure-sensor readout, fault codes
- Configure and tune Bosch Motorsport ECUs — RaceCon for the MS 6.x and MS 7.x series, with the MSA-Box 2 also handling the older MS 3 Sport and MS 4 Sport ECUs through Modas Sport
- Download logged sessions from C70 and C80 data loggers into WinDarab, and run online measurement during testing
- Set up DDU 9/10/11 display loggers and PBX90 / PBX 190 power distribution modules
- Read and clear ABS fault codes and flash ABS firmware updates
- Connect over a single USB port on the PC and select CAN, 100 Mbit Ethernet, or K-Line to the vehicle as the target system requires
MSA-Box vs MSA-Box 2
| MSA-Box (original) | MSA-Box 2 (MSA-Box II) | |
|---|---|---|
| PC connection | Serial / RS232 (legacy) | USB 2.0 high speed |
| Vehicle interfaces | K-Line | CAN, 100 Mbit Ethernet, K-Line |
| Isolation | — | Galvanic isolation on all vehicle I/O |
| Status | Superseded, obsolete | Current — F02U.V00.327-03 |
Only the MSA-Box 2 is current production. The original serial MSA-Box is obsolete and cannot communicate with current-generation Bosch Motorsport ECUs and loggers that require USB and Ethernet.
Bosch Motorsport ABS Calibration
The MSA-Box 2 is required to commission and service the Bosch Motorsport ABS M5 (and the earlier ABS M4) through RaceABS software:
- Set vehicle parameters — wheelbase, track width, wheel circumference, weight distribution
- Configure wheel speed sensor inputs and DF11 Hall sensor signal types
- Set the ABS intervention mode switch (ABS M5 supports up to 12 driver-selectable levels)
- Adjust front/rear brake bias and balance targets
- Read front and rear brake pressure sensor data (ABS M5)
- Configure the brake balance optimiser
- Read and clear ABS fault codes, and update ABS firmware
The ABS M5 replaced the ABS M4 as the current standard. The MSA-Box 2 supports both generations.
Compatible Systems
- ABS M4, ABS M5
- ECU MS 3 Sport, MS 4 Sport, MS 4.4 Sport, MS 6.x, MS 7.x series
- DDU 9, DDU 10, DDU 11 display loggers
- C70, C80 data loggers
- PBX90, PBX 190 power distribution modules
- CAS-M 3 EVO collision avoidance system
Compatible Software
All four are free downloads from Bosch Motorsport — the MSA-Box 2 is the hardware link they communicate through:
- RaceABS — ABS M4/M5 configuration, brake bias, fault diagnostics
- RaceCon — integrated calibration for ECUs, displays, and data loggers
- WinDarab — data logger configuration and session data download
- Modas Sport — ECU calibration (MS 3 Sport, MS 4 Sport)
Vehicle-Side Connector and Pinout
The vehicle side uses a 22-way AS6-12-35PN autosport connector — insert arrangement 35, with all contacts size 22 (22 AWG). The loom-side mating part is the AS0-12-35SN (Bosch part F02U.000.258-01) for teams building a dedicated diagnostic loom.

FAQ
Does the MSA-Box 2 work with Windows 11?
Yes. The MSA-Box 2 driver runs on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Install the current Bosch Motorsport MSA-Box driver for your software version before connecting — contact us via the website if you need the latest driver package.
Does it support both ABS M4 and ABS M5?
Yes. The MSA-Box 2 is the required interface for commissioning and diagnosing both the Bosch Motorsport ABS M5 and the earlier ABS M4 through RaceABS — vehicle setup, brake bias, intervention levels, pressure-sensor readout, and fault codes.
What is the difference between the original MSA-Box and the MSA-Box 2?
The original MSA-Box connected to the PC over a serial (RS232) link and is now obsolete. The MSA-Box 2 (MSA-Box II) connects over USB 2.0 and adds CAN up to 1 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit Ethernet, and K-Line on the vehicle side, with galvanic isolation — required for current Bosch Motorsport ECUs, data loggers, and ABS units.
What software do I need, and does it cost extra?
The MSA-Box 2 is the hardware link; the software is free from Bosch Motorsport. RaceABS configures ABS M4/M5; RaceCon calibrates ECUs, displays, and data loggers; WinDarab downloads and analyses logged data; Modas Sport covers older ECUs.
Where do I get the MSA-Box 2 driver?
The MSA-Box driver and firmware updater are supplied by Bosch Motorsport. Contact us via the website and we will point you to the current driver package and setup manual for your software toolchain.
