H01N2-D is the standard for motorsport battery and high-current power wiring — Class 6 extra-flexible stranded copper with a chloroprene (neoprene) rubber sheath. The fine copper stranding gives it a suppleness that rigid PVC battery cable cannot match, which matters when routing through firewalls, around roll cage tubes, and through tight conduit. The neoprene sheath resists oil, petrol, hydraulic fluid, battery acid, and ozone, and remains flexible at low temperatures.

As a general rule: for cable runs up to approximately 1.5 m, 16 mm² is sufficient for most single-ECU club race cars. Use 25 mm² for runs longer than 1.5 m, cars with multiple ECUs or EPS, or any installation where sustained current exceeds 120 A.
