The MoTeC 15 Button CAN Keypad (41400) puts 15 programmable switches on a single 4-wire CAN bus connection. Fifteen buttons in a 3×5 grid replace what would otherwise be a 15-wire loom run back to the control unit — and each button carries its own feedback through three independently programmable LEDs that show system state to the driver in real time.
The keypad is sealed to IP67 and built for motorsport environments: vibration, spray, and pressure washing. A male 4-pin Deutsch DT connector is moulded into the back. The keypad works with any CAN-capable device — MoTeC PDM15, PDM30, M1 series ECUs, ECUmaster PMU, Bosch Motorsport MS6/MS7/MS25, and any other system that can read CAN bus frames. Up to 30 buttons across multiple keypads can share the same CAN bus segment.

CAN Device Compatibility
The keypad communicates over standard CAN bus and works with any device that can decode CAN frames:
| Device | Compatible |
|---|---|
| MoTeC PDM15 | Yes |
| MoTeC PDM30 | Yes |
| MoTeC M1 series ECUs | Yes |
| ECUmaster PMU | Yes |
| Bosch Motorsport MS6 / MS7 / MS25 | Yes |
| Any CAN-capable ECU, PDM, or dash | Yes |
Configuration depends on the host device — see the Configuration section below.
Wiring
The keypad uses a standard female DT4 harness socket carrying four signals: switched 12V supply, ground, CAN High, and CAN Low. Run CAN H and CAN L as twisted pair cable. The keypad has no on-board termination resistor — place 120 Ω resistors at each physical end of the CAN bus segment per the MoTeC PDM wiring guide.
Configuration
Configuration is done in the host device’s software:
- MoTeC PDM15 / PDM30: PDM Manager — assign button functions, LED colours, backlight brightness, and CAN address
- MoTeC M1 series: M1 Build / M1 Tune — configure via CAN input channels
- ECUmaster PMU: PMU Designer — map CAN keypad channels to PMU outputs
- Other devices: configure the host to decode the keypad’s CAN frame per the MoTeC keypad CAN protocol documentation
Button Labels
The keypad ships with the MoTeC button label set included. Semi-transparent backlit labels cover the most common motorsport functions: ignition, fuel pump, fans, pit speed limiter, launch control, ABS off, hazard, wiper, menu, page, stage, and more. Apply the labels after programming each button.
MoTeC CAN Keypad Range
| Model | Buttons | Layout | Part No. |
|---|---|---|---|
| MoTeC 8 Button CAN Keypad | 8 | 2 rows × 4 | 41401 |
| MoTeC 15 Button CAN Keypad | 15 | 3 rows × 5 | 41400 |
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the MoTeC 15 Button Keypad work with all MoTeC PDM models?
The keypad is compatible with the PDM15 and PDM30. It connects via CAN bus and is configured in PDM Manager. Check your PDM Manager version supports keypad input if using older PDM firmware.
Can the keypad connect to a MoTeC M1 ECU directly?
Yes. The MoTeC M1 series ECUs support the CAN keypad directly — configure the keypad channels in M1 Build / M1 Tune. A PDM is not required.
How many keypads can I run on one PDM?
Up to 30 buttons total from multiple keypads can connect to a single PDM via CAN bus — for example two 15-button units giving a 30-button panel.
Does the keypad need a CAN bus termination resistor?
Yes. There is no on-board termination. Place a 120 Ω resistor at each physical end of the CAN bus segment as specified in the PDM wiring guide.
Does the keypad ship with button labels?
Yes. The keypad ships with the MoTeC button label set — semi-transparent backlit labels for the most common motorsport functions. Apply labels after programming each button’s function.
Does the keypad work with non-MoTeC systems such as ECUmaster or Bosch?
Yes. The keypad communicates over standard CAN bus and works with any device that can read CAN frames — ECUmaster PMU, Bosch Motorsport MS6/MS7/MS25, and other CAN-capable ECUs, PDMs, and dashes. Configure the host device to decode the keypad’s CAN messages using the MoTeC keypad protocol documentation.
