The Ecumaster PMU-16DL is the PMU-16 with 256MB of built-in data logging. It shares the full PMU-16 hardware platform — 16 programmable high-side outputs, per-output current monitoring, PWM control, CAN logic engine, and inertia switch — and adds the ability to log all output states, currents, and voltages internally at up to 500Hz per channel, without an external datalogger.
This makes the PMU-16DL the right choice for teams who want comprehensive power distribution records from every session but have not fitted a standalone datalogger, or who want to keep PMU data separate from the main dash/logger CAN data stream.

What You Can Do With It
- Log every circuit independently at 500Hz — output state, current draw, and voltage for all 16 channels stored on-device; review after each session in ECUmaster PMU PC software
- Detect intermittent faults without an external logger — if a fuel pump circuit drops current unexpectedly on a flying lap, the 256MB log captures it even without an external logger on CAN
- Replace fuse box, relay panel, and a basic logger — three hardware items eliminated, weight saved, and less wiring complexity
- Control fans and pumps by temperature via PWM — variable-speed control based on coolant, oil, or fuel temperature received over CAN
- Gang outputs for high-current loads — two 25A outputs can be paralleled for 50A loads such as electric power steering pumps

FAQ
What is the difference between the PMU-16 and PMU-16DL?
The PMU-16DL adds 256MB of internal data logging — every output state, current, and voltage logged at up to 500Hz on-device. All other hardware is identical: same 16 outputs, same CAN logic engine, same connectors, same dimensions and weight. Choose the standard PMU-16 if you already have a CAN-capable datalogger or dash that records PMU data; choose the DL if you want autonomous on-unit logging.
What channels does the PMU-16DL log internally?
All output states (on/off), output current (mA resolution), output voltage, input states, analogue input voltages, CAN input values, accelerometer/gyroscope data, and internal diagnostic channels — all configurable in ECUmaster PMU PC software.
Do I need a USB to CAN module to use the PMU-16DL?
Yes — a USB to CAN module (ECUmaster ECUUSBCAN, Kvaser, or PEAK PCAN) is required for programming and for downloading internal logs. It is sold separately. If you already own one for an ECUmaster EMU Black or EMU Pro ECU, the same module works for the PMU-16DL.
Can the PMU-16DL log data while the engine is off?
Yes. The PMU operates independently of the ECU and can remain powered (e.g. via a keep-alive circuit) after the engine is switched off. Logging continues for as long as the PMU has power — useful for capturing post-session cool-down fan and pump run-on data.
