The Ecumaster PMU-16 is a 16-output solid-state power management unit for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. It replaces conventional fuse boxes and relay panels with fully programmable high-side outputs — each with per-output current monitoring, overcurrent protection, and PWM capability. All outputs and inputs are monitored at 500Hz and configurable via a built-in logic engine with 100 functions and 250 operations, allowing engineers to build conditional switching, timed sequences, and closed-loop control directly in the PMU without an external controller.
The PMU-16 communicates over open CAN2.0B and accepts up to 100 user-defined CAN input messages — compatible with Emtron, AiM, MoTeC M1, Haltech, Link ECU, Bosch Motorsport, and any CAN-equipped system. Multiple PMU units can be networked for installations requiring more than 16 switched circuits.

What You Can Do With It
- Control fans and pumps by temperature — PWM all 25A outputs for variable-speed control based on coolant, oil, or fuel temperature channels received over CAN
- Replace a complete fuse and relay panel — 16 solid-state outputs eliminate up to 16 mechanical fuses and relays, saving weight and eliminating relay chatter
- Configure post-ignition run-on — program a timer to keep the cooling fan running after engine shutdown without a dedicated relay
- Build FIA-compliant inertia shutdown — the built-in 3D accelerometer triggers a configurable crash cutoff and sends a CAN message to cut the battery isolator
- Create conditional logic without a separate controller — 100 logic functions with AND/OR/XOR operators, timers, and counters handle wiper sequences, blinkers, launch control arming, and pit limiter activation
- Monitor and log every circuit — all 16 output currents transmit on CAN at 500Hz for logging by any connected dash or datalogger
- Gang outputs for high-current loads — two 25A outputs can be paralleled for a 50A electric power steering pump, each with independent current protection

Choose the PMU-16DL if you need on-unit data logging without a separate datalogger. Choose the PMU-16 AS for FIA-level connector requirements and IP65 sealing. Choose the PMU-24DL for complex cars requiring more than 16 switched circuits.
Compatible CAN Keypads
The PMU-16 supports up to two CAN keypads simultaneously on 4 wires (CAN H, CAN L, 12V, GND). Stocked by XTRA Motorsport:
- 8-Button Motorsport CAN Keypad — Blink Marine PKP-2400 SI
- 10-Button Motorsport CAN Keypad — Blink Marine PKP-2500 SI
- 12-Button Motorsport CAN Keypad — Blink Marine PKP-2600 SI
- 15-Button Motorsport CAN Keypad — Blink Marine PKP-3500 SI
- 13-Button + 2 Rotary Motorsport CAN Keypad — Blink Marine PKP-3500 SI MTR
Third-party CAN keypads (Blink Marine PKP series, etc.) can also be integrated by mapping their CAN message IDs in the PMU input configuration.
FAQ
How many PMU outputs do I actually need?
A fully wired GT3 or endurance car typically uses 12–16 switched circuits: cooling fans, oil cooler, fuel and water pumps, ECU/dash/logger power, headlights and safety lights, wipers, gear shift solenoids, and spares. The PMU-16 covers most builds. If your car requires dual fuel systems, dual cooling circuits, full lighting, or multiple solenoids, consider the PMU-24DL which adds 8 additional 7A outputs.
Do I need the DL version, or is CAN logging enough?
On the PMU-16, all output states, currents, and voltages transmit on CAN at 500Hz — any datalogger or dash that receives CAN can record this data. The PMU-16DL adds 256MB of internal logging for teams who want standalone PMU records without an external logger, or need PMU data captured even when the rest of the system is powered down.
What is the difference between the PMU-16 and PMU-16 AS?
The PMU-16 AS uses Deutsch Autosport connectors (MIL-grade sealed, as used in FIA GT3, LMP, and WRC) and a Radlok 200A tool-free battery disconnect. It is also IP65 (vs IP60), changes two 15A outputs to 40A, adds 6 low-side 1A outputs, includes 256MB logging as standard, and is a different physical form factor (177×84×46mm vs 131×112×32mm). It costs approximately 65% more and is designed for professional race teams and FIA technical scrutineering requirements.
What ECU brands is the PMU-16 compatible with?
All of them. The PMU-16 communicates over open CAN2.0B with configurable message IDs — it is not locked to any ECU brand. Confirmed integrations include Emtron KV/SL series, AiM, MoTeC M1, Haltech Nexus/Elite, Link ECU G4X, Bosch Motorsport MS/DDU series, Syvecs, and others. Any ECU that can transmit CAN frames can control the PMU.
