The AiM MXG is the largest display in the AiM MX dash logger family. Its 7-inch 800 × 480 TFT panel at 1,100 lumens is readable in direct sunlight in any fixed-roof or open cockpit. Three CAN buses — primary ECU, second CAN, and expansion CAN — allow simultaneous connection to the vehicle ECU, SmartyCam 3, lambda controllers, and AiM expansion modules without CAN topology compromises.
Eight fully configurable analogue inputs sample at up to 1,000 Hz each, covering pressure transducers, potentiometers, thermocouples, and any 0–5 V or 0–12 V sensor. The 9-axis inertial platform (3-axis ±5G accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer) logs lateral, longitudinal, and vertical G-forces at up to 100 Hz without an external IMU module. The GPS09 module is included in the kit and connects via the expansion CAN bus.
Data is stored to 4 GB of internal flash memory and downloaded via Wi-Fi to Race Studio 3 for analysis. The logger supports 1,500+ ECU protocols from OEM and motorsport manufacturers via CAN, RS232, or K-Line — no custom CAN template is required for most production and racing ECUs. Two digital outputs allow dash-triggered relay control or auxiliary switching.
The MXG connects via two Deutsch Autosport motorsport connectors (37-pin main + 22-pin auxiliary) plus a Binder auxiliary connector — the same connector family used across AiM’s professional dash range and standard in endurance and GT racing harnesses.

FAQ
What is the difference between the MXG and the MXP?
The MXG has a 7-inch screen (237 × 128 mm) versus the MXP’s 6-inch screen (190 × 106 mm). Both share the same spec: 8 analogue inputs at 1,000 Hz, 3 CAN buses, 10 shift LEDs, 9-axis IMU, Deutsch Autosport 37+22 connectors, 4 GB logging. The MXG weighs 950 g vs the MXP’s 590 g — the size and weight difference is the only meaningful distinction for most installations.
Does the MXG connect to my ECU out of the box?
Yes for most ECUs. The MXG supports 1,500+ ECU protocols via CAN, RS232, or K-Line. Supported brands include Bosch Motorsport, Emtron, Link, ECUmaster, MoTeC, Haltech, and most production OEM ECUs. The GPS09 module included in the kit provides automatic lap timing and track mapping for 4,000+ circuits worldwide.
Can I connect a SmartyCam to the MXG?
Yes. The SmartyCam 3 connects via CAN on the expansion CAN bus. Telemetry data from the MXG is sent to the SmartyCam 3 in real time and overlaid on the recorded video. Both the camera and dash data are then synchronised and analysable frame-by-frame in Race Studio 3.
What harness does the MXG use?
The MXG uses two Deutsch Autosport motorsport connectors (37-pin main and 22-pin auxiliary) plus a Binder auxiliary connector. The 37-pin harness covers ECU CAN, power, ground, analogue inputs, and digital I/O. The 22-pin carries CAN expansion, additional inputs, and outputs. AiM supplies a standard 37-pin harness with the kit; additional harnesses are available as accessories.
