The AiM MXP is the 6-inch model in the AiM MX dash logger family. It shares the full specification of the larger MXG — three CAN buses, 8 analogue inputs at 1,000 Hz each, 9-axis IMU, 10 RGB shift LEDs, 4 GB internal logging, Deutsch Autosport connectors — in a housing 47 mm narrower and 360 g lighter. For builds where cockpit space favours a 6-inch over a 7-inch screen, the MXP is the direct choice without any functional compromise.
Three CAN buses allow simultaneous connection to the vehicle ECU, SmartyCam 3 camera, and AiM expansion modules. The primary CAN and RS232/K-Line handle ECU protocols — 1,500+ supported without custom configuration. The second CAN and expansion CAN connect external lambda controllers, TC hubs, and steering wheel modules. The GPS09 module in the kit adds 25 Hz GPS positioning and automatic lap timing from 4,000+ circuits worldwide.
Eight analogue inputs at 1,000 Hz each — higher than the MXS’s 500 Hz — support high-frequency sensors: damper potentiometers, high-speed pressure transducers, and stepper-motor position sensors. Two digital outputs enable relay or auxiliary switching triggered by display logic in Race Studio 3. All data downloads via Wi-Fi to Race Studio 3 trackside.

FAQ
Is the MXP the same as the MXG, just with a smaller screen?
Yes. Both models share identical electronics, connector types, analogue input count and speed, CAN bus count, IMU spec, memory, and GPS. The only difference is screen size (6″ vs 7″) and the resulting size and weight change (190 × 106 mm / 590 g vs 237 × 128 mm / 950 g). Choose the MXP when cockpit space favours a 6-inch mounting.
What ECUs does the MXP support?
The MXP supports 1,500+ ECU protocols via CAN, RS232, or K-Line. This covers Bosch Motorsport, Emtron, Link, ECUmaster, MoTeC, Haltech, Pectel, Pi, and the majority of OEM production ECUs. No custom CAN template is needed for supported ECUs.
Can I connect both a SmartyCam and a lambda controller simultaneously?
Yes. The three CAN buses allow simultaneous connection to the ECU (primary CAN), SmartyCam 3 (expansion CAN), and a lambda controller or other AiM module on the second CAN. The MXP’s three-CAN architecture is the key advantage over the two-CAN MXS for builds requiring multiple CAN-connected devices.
Does the MXP need external GPS, or does it have one built in?
The GPS09 external module is included in the MXP kit (SKU XA6MXPA20G1) and connects via the expansion CAN. It provides 25 Hz 4-constellation positioning and automatic lap timing from 4,000+ tracks. The module is the same GPS09 used across the AiM MX range.
