The AiM MXS is the 5-inch model in the AiM MX dash logger family. At 169 × 97 × 23 mm and 480 g, it is compact enough for the smallest single-seater cockpits while providing the full AiM data logging feature set: 8 analogue inputs, 4 digital speed inputs, 9-axis IMU, GPS lap timing, and 1,500+ ECU protocols.
Eight analogue inputs accept 0–5 V and 0–12 V sensors at up to 500 Hz each — sufficient for all standard motorsport sensors including pressure transducers, temperature probes, and potentiometers. Note that MXS analogue inputs sample at 500 Hz versus the 1,000 Hz available on the MXP and MXG; for very high-speed damper or pressure transducer applications, the MXP is the better choice. Four dedicated digital speed inputs provide independent wheel speed logging for traction control analysis and differential calibration.
Two CAN buses handle the ECU connection (primary CAN, RS232, or K-Line) and expansion devices (SmartyCam 3, lambda controllers, AiM modules) on the second CAN. The GPS09 module is included in the kit. 4 GB of internal logging downloads via Wi-Fi to Race Studio 3. The MXS uses AMP motorsport connectors — different from the Deutsch Autosport connectors on the MXP and MXG; confirm with your harness builder before ordering.

MXS vs MXS Strada — Key Difference
The MXS Logger (this product) has a built-in 4 GB data logger. The MXS Strada is a display-only unit with road-legal warning icons (indicators, high beam, oil pressure). Choose the MXS Logger for any track-focused build requiring on-board data storage. Choose the MXS Strada for road or dual-purpose vehicles where ECU data display is required but logging is handled separately.

FAQ
What is the difference between the MXS and the MXP?
The MXS has a 5-inch screen, 2 CAN buses, 8 analogue inputs at 500 Hz, and uses AMP connectors. The MXP has a 6-inch screen, 3 CAN buses, 8 analogue inputs at 1,000 Hz, and uses Deutsch Autosport connectors. The third CAN bus on the MXP allows simultaneous connection to more CAN expansion devices. For builds needing only ECU connection plus one expansion device (e.g. SmartyCam), the MXS is sufficient.
Does the MXS come with a GPS module?
Yes. The GPS09 external module is included in the MXS kit (SKU XA2MXS12A40G1). It connects to the expansion CAN and provides 25 Hz 4-constellation positioning and automatic lap timing from 4,000+ circuits.
What connectors does the MXS use?
The MXS uses AMP motorsport connectors — not Deutsch Autosport. This is different from the MXP and MXG. If you are building a new harness, confirm with your loom builder before ordering. AiM supplies a standard 37-pin harness in the kit.
Can I use the MXS with a SmartyCam 3?
Yes. The SmartyCam 3 connects to the MXS via the expansion CAN bus. With 2 CAN buses, the MXS supports one ECU CAN connection and one expansion device simultaneously. If you need both a SmartyCam and a lambda controller on CAN, consider the MXP (3 CAN buses).
