Bosch Motorsport Speed Sensor Hall-Effect HA-D 90

Price range: 465.00 € through 881.25 € excl. VAT

The Bosch Motorsport HA-D 90 is a Hall-effect speed sensor for incremental rotational speed measurement — camshaft, crankshaft, and wheel speed. Two Hall probes in a differential arrangement give highly repeatable falling-edge detection (< 1.0 % up to 6 kHz), with a self-learning switching threshold and a digital output up to 10 kHz. Available in two variants: open-end wire for harness integration, or pre-fitted with a Deutsch ASL606-05PC-HE connector.

The Bosch Motorsport HA-D 90 measures incremental rotational speed from a ferromagnetic target wheel — camshaft, crankshaft, wheel speed, or gearbox shaft applications. As the target wheel rotates in front of the sensor face, the passing teeth modulate the magnetic field at the Hall probes and the integrated circuit converts this to a clean digital output signal.

Unlike single-element Hall sensors, the HA-D 90 uses a differential measuring method with two Hall probes: the sensing circuit evaluates the field difference between the two elements rather than an absolute field level. This gives very good detection of the falling edge of each tooth — repeatability better than 1.0 % up to 6 kHz and 1.5 % up to 10 kHz — and makes the switching point insensitive to temperature drift and common-mode field variation. The threshold is self-learning, so no calibration is required at installation. This edge precision is what qualifies the sensor for crankshaft trigger duty, where tooth-edge timing directly sets ignition accuracy; being an active sensor, it also delivers a valid digital signal down to zero speed, with none of the amplitude dependence of a passive (variable reluctance) pickup.

Mechanically the sensor is compact: an 11.8 mm bore body fixed with a single M6 screw (6 Nm), 30 mm installation depth, and 12 g weight without wire. The wire exits at 90° to the mounting axis — the “90” in the name; 0°, 180°, and 270° outlet positions are available on request. The working air gap is 0.4–1.0 mm, the operating range −40 to 150 °C, and vibration tolerance 1,200 m/s² (10 Hz – 2 kHz), suitable for direct engine or upright mounting. The 10 kHz maximum frequency covers a 60-tooth trigger wheel at approximately 10,000 rpm.

Two delivery variants are offered. The open-end variant (F02U.V00.334-90) comes with unterminated AWG 24 leads for splicing or terminating into the harness connector of your choice. The connector variant (F02U.V00.334-01) comes pre-fitted with a Deutsch ASL606-05PC-HE Autosport connector; the mating harness connector is the Deutsch ASL006-05SC-HE (Bosch P/N F02U.000.228-01). Wire length is specified at ordering, from 15 to 100 cm.

Pinout (ASL606-05PC-HE variant)

Pin Signal
1 US — supply voltage (5 – 18 V)
2 Gnd — ground
3 Sig — output signal (open collector, 1 kΩ pull-up)
4 nc
5 nc

The open-end variant carries the same three circuits (supply, ground, signal) on its AWG 24 leads. The open-collector output requires a pull-up resistor (1 kΩ rated) to the supply rail — most motorsport ECU and data logger Hall speed inputs provide this internally; verify before wiring.

Output frequency converts to speed as: f [Hz] = tooth count × rpm / 60. Example: a 60-tooth wheel at 6,000 rpm produces 6 kHz.

FAQ

What does the differential measuring method improve?

Two Hall probes measure the magnetic field difference across the sensor face instead of one probe measuring an absolute level. The switching point stays stable against temperature drift, air-gap variation within the rated range, and external fields (up to 50 mT), giving falling-edge repeatability better than 1.0 % up to 6 kHz. On a crankshaft trigger this translates directly into ignition timing accuracy.

Which variant should I order?

Order the open-end variant (F02U.V00.334-90) if you are integrating the sensor into a loom with your own connector system. Order the connector variant (F02U.V00.334-01) if you want a serviceable plug-in sensor — its ASL606-05PC-HE mates with the Deutsch ASL006-05SC-HE on the harness side. Wire length (15–100 cm) is specified at ordering for both.

What does the “90” in HA-D 90 mean?

The wire outlet exits at 90° to the sensor’s mounting axis. Versions with 0°, 180°, and 270° outlet positions are available on request — contact us via the website if your installation needs a different outlet angle.

How does the HA-D 90 differ from the Mini HA-P?

The Mini HA-P is a single-element Hall sensor with a 16 mm bore and a wider 0.2–1.5 mm air gap tolerance. The HA-D 90 is smaller (11.8 mm bore, 12 g), runs a two-probe differential circuit with specified falling-edge repeatability, and is rated to 150 °C. Choose the HA-D 90 where edge-timing precision matters most (crank trigger); the Mini HA-P suits general speed pickup where the larger gap tolerance simplifies installation.

Backorder Products

These items aren't kept in stock but are available for purchase.

Sensor connectors and Deutsch DT/DTM/DTP connector kits sometimes are listed as Backorder items, but we stock seperate items, so it only takes to collect these for your shipment in kits.

These items are supplied on backorder. Delivery times depend on each manufacturer's production schedule and current demand, so the figures below are typical estimates under normal conditions — not guaranteed delivery dates. When demand is high, lead times can extend beyond the ranges shown.
