The Bosch Motorsport Airbox Temperature Sensor measures intake air temperature in the airbox or intake manifold, providing the ECU with the air temperature input required for fuel and ignition calculation corrections, air density compensation, and charge temperature monitoring. It is the air-rated variant in the Bosch Motorsport NTC temperature sensor family — the medium rating (air rather than liquid) differentiates it from the NTC M12 and NTC M12-H, which are designed for liquid circuits.
The M12×1.5 thread and Jetronic 2-pin connector are standard across the Bosch NTC family, allowing direct substitution between liquid and air sensors in the same mounting boss. Pull-up resistor requirements follow the standard NTC convention (typically 1–3 kΩ, ECU-dependent).
The −40 to +140 °C range covers standard intake air temperatures including post-intercooler charge air up to high-load conditions. For applications monitoring fluid temperatures above 130 °C (coolant, oil), use the NTC M12-H (−40 to 150 °C).
