The CivicLink Gen 6 (HC96X) is Link Engine Management’s G4X plug-in ECU for the Honda Civic EK (1996–1998) and all vehicles using the Honda OBD2A ECU with B16 or B18 engines. The PCB fits inside the factory ECU enclosure with no loom modifications.

Unlike the Gen 5 CivicLink HC92X, the Gen 6 includes knock control capability. VTEC, IAB (Intake Air Bypass), and factory idle hardware are all supported. No onboard MAP sensor is fitted — the factory MAP sensor is available via An Volt 1, or an external sensor can be fitted via the XS Expansion Loom.

What is the difference between CivicLink Gen 5 and Gen 6?

The CivicLink Gen 5 HC92X fits OBD1 ECU models (1992–1995) and has no knock control. The Gen 6 HC96X fits OBD2A models (1996–1998) and adds knock control capability. Both use different physical connectors — confirm your ECU year before ordering.

Does it support VTEC and knock control?

Yes — the HC96X supports both VTEC cam lift control and hardware knock detection with windowing, unlike the Gen 5 HC92X.

Is a base map included?

Yes. A startup base map for the B16/B18 OBD2A is pre-loaded. Professional dyno tuning is required before use.
