The primary benefit over a fixed-pressure regulator is the ability to fine-tune fuel rail pressure during calibration — adjusting pressure upward extends injector duty cycle range at the same ECU pulse width, improving resolution at low loads; adjusting downward reduces fuel pump load and heat soak in the fuel rail.
Two adjustment ranges cover different application needs: the 2.2–3.5 bar range suits engines with standard injector sizing at moderate power levels, while the 3.5–5.0 bar range covers high-flow injector installations (including the Bosch EV14 at 980 cc/min) where elevated pressure is needed to maintain injector linearity.
E85 and M15 compatibility extends usability to bioethanol and methanol applications — the most common alternative fuel types in club and professional motorsport. The 5 mm tube reference pressure port connects to the intake manifold for boost/vacuum-referenced operation.
