The G4X XtremeX is the wire-in ECU in Link Engine Management’s G4X range that adds drive-by-wire E-throttle, traction control, and cruise control to the already capable StormX foundation. It shares the same 8-injector and 8-ignition output count as the StormX but adds four more analogue inputs (11 total), a second CAN bus, and the three features that define the step up. It is the correct choice for any 4–8 cylinder build involving a DBW throttle body or a traction control strategy — provided peak-and-hold (low-impedance) injectors are not required. Like all G4X wire-in ECUs, the XtremeX supports high-impedance (saturated) injectors only.

What You Can Do With It
- Control drive-by-wire throttle bodies with gear-shift throttle blip — full pedal-to-throttle management on DBW-equipped engines and conversions
- Configure wheel-slip-based traction control using CAN wheel speed data from a dash or PDM on either CAN bus
- Enable cruise control for endurance racing or road use
- Run full sequential injection and COP ignition on any 4–8 cylinder engine
- Map up to 4 independent closed-loop VVT cams
- Monitor and correct knock on two independent channels without external knock amplifiers
- Distribute CAN data across two separate buses — dash on CAN 1, PDM or transmission controller on CAN 2
- Log up to 250 channels at 1 kHz across 512 MB internal storage
- Use PCLink Maths Blocks for algebraic custom control strategies without custom firmware
Note on Injector Compatibility
The G4X XtremeX supports high-impedance (saturated, ≥8 Ω) injectors only. Low-impedance (peak-and-hold, 2–3 Ω) injectors — used in some high-flow motorsport injector series — are not compatible with any G4X wire-in ECU. For peak-and-hold injection drive requirements, Link’s G4+ Xtreme Black is the applicable product. Most modern injectors from Bosch EV14, Siemens/VDO, Injector Dynamics, and RC Engineering are high-impedance type.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the G4X XtremeX support peak-and-hold (low-impedance) injectors?
No. The XtremeX, like all G4X wire-in ECUs, has saturated (high-impedance) injection drives only. Low-impedance (2–3 Ω) peak-and-hold injectors are not compatible. For peak-and-hold requirements, Link’s G4+ Xtreme Black is the relevant product.
What does the XtremeX add over the StormX?
Three additions: drive-by-wire E-throttle with gear-shift throttle blip, wheel-slip traction control, and cruise control. The XtremeX also provides 4 more analogue inputs (11 vs 7 on the StormX) and a second CAN bus — useful for complex builds running a dash, wideband, PDM, and gearbox controller simultaneously.
Should I choose the XtremeX or the FuryX?
For 7- or 8-cylinder sequential ignition, the XtremeX is the only G4X option — the FuryX is limited to 6 ignition outputs. For 6 cylinders or fewer with no external wideband, the FuryX’s built-in Bosch LSU 4.9 eliminates a separate controller. If you already have an external wideband, the XtremeX is €200 less and adds 2 more analogue inputs.
Is PCLink included or an additional purchase?
PCLink is a free download from linkecu.com with free updates. It is the same software used across every G4X ECU — the ECU firmware determines which feature tabs are active. No annual licence fee.
