The BMWLink (E36X) is Link Engine Management’s G4X plug-in ECU for the BMW E36 with the M50TUB25 (M50 TU, 2.5L) engine and factory Bosch M3.3.1 ECU. It is one of a small number of Link plug-in ECUs that supports both manual and automatic transmissions. VANOS single-cam variable timing is natively supported. Onboard MAP sensor (4-bar or 7-bar depending on board revision) is included. Internal ignitors are built in — coils wire directly to the ECU. The PCB fits inside the factory Bosch M3.3.1 enclosure.

Engine code restriction: This ECU is only compatible with the M50TUB25 engine code. It is not compatible with M52, S50, S52, or the non-TU M50. Verify the engine code before ordering.

Injector note: The BMWLink supports high-impedance (≥6 Ω) injectors only. Factory M50TUB25 injectors are high-impedance. If fitting aftermarket low-impedance injectors, ballast resistors must be wired externally.

Does the BMWLink fit M52 or S50 engines?

No. The E36X is compatible with the M50TUB25 engine code only, fitted with the Bosch M3.3.1 factory ECU. M52, S50, S52, and non-TU M50 variants are not supported.

Does it support automatic transmission?

Yes — the BMWLink E36X is one of the few Link plug-in ECUs that supports both manual and automatic gearboxes.

Is a base map included?

Yes. A startup base map for the M50TUB25 is pre-loaded. Professional dyno tuning is required before use.
