The Ecumaster ADU-5 is a sealed IP65 motorsport display for race and rally applications where screen size and weight are priorities. The 5-inch 800×480 TFT runs at 50 frames per second with anti-aliased graphics and auto-brightness via a built-in light sensor — 600 cd/m² provides adequate readability in most in-car lighting conditions. The IP65 CNC aluminium enclosure withstands water jets and vibration without additional protection.
Display pages are fully configurable in the ECUmaster ADU Windows software: gauges, bar graphs, numerical channels, alarm overlays, and shift light patterns are assigned to CAN, analogue, or digital input channels and uploaded via USB. Pages can switch automatically based on conditions (engine speed, gear position, flag signals) or manually from a CAN keypad or button.
The ADU-5 connects to 20+ ECU platforms via pre-built CAN configuration files — including ECUmaster EMU Black, EMU Pro, Emtron, MoTeC M400/M600, Haltech, AEM, Link ECU, and Megasquirt — plus RS232 for Hondata K-Pro, Autronic SM4, and others. Custom CAN profiles are available from ECUmaster for unlisted ECUs.

What You Can Do With It
- Display any ECU channel on a custom page — create multi-page dashboards with gauges, warning lights, lap times, and gear position; pages switch automatically based on vehicle state
- Log all channels to USB at 500Hz — a USB flash drive records everything the display sees; download in ADU Analyzer software for post-session data review
- Configure shift lights independently per gear — all 15 RGB LEDs are individually programmable for colour, brightness, and activation threshold
- Use the built-in 3D accelerometer — lateral and longitudinal G-force channels are available without an external accelerometer, useful for time attack and hillclimb setups
- Connect tyre temperature cameras via CAN — ECUmaster CAN Thermal Cameras feed tyre heat map data to the ADU over CAN bus; displayed graphically, not as a raw video feed
- Replace a separate datalogger for club and semi-pro use — 500Hz USB logging covers most data acquisition needs without a dedicated standalone logger
ADU Family Comparison
| Model | Screen | Brightness | IP | Connector | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ADU-5 | 5-inch | 600 cd/m² | IP65 | 35-pin AMPSEAL | 408g |
| ADU-7 Rev.2 | 7-inch | 1000 cd/m² | IP65 | 35-pin AMPSEAL | 732g |
| ADU-7 Autosport | 7-inch | 1000 cd/m² | IP60 | 37-pin Autosport | — |
All ADU models share identical inputs, outputs, logging speed, LED count, and CAN connectivity. Choose the ADU-5 for tight cockpits, weight-critical builds, or co-driver stations. Choose the ADU-7 for maximum screen area and sunlight readability.

FAQ
What is the difference between the ADU-5 and ADU-7?
The ADU-7 has a larger 7-inch screen (versus 5-inch), higher brightness at 1000 cd/m² (versus 600 cd/m²), and is heavier at 732g versus 408g. Functionally they are identical — same inputs, outputs, logging speed, RGB LEDs, and CAN ports. Choose the ADU-5 for tight cockpits, co-driver stations, or weight-critical builds; choose the ADU-7 for open-cockpit cars or where direct sunlight readability is a priority.
What ECUs is the ADU-5 compatible with?
Pre-built CAN configuration files are included for ECUmaster EMU Black, EMU Classic, EMU Pro, PMU, MoTeC M400/M600, Haltech, AEM, Emtron, Link ECU G4X, Megasquirt, DTA Fast S Series, and others. RS232 serial support covers AiM, Hondata K-Pro, Autronic SM4, AEM, GEMS, Athena GET, and MoTeC M4. OBD2 is supported via the CAN2 port. Custom profiles for unlisted ECUs are available from ECUmaster on request.
Does the ADU-5 have a video input?
No. The ADU-5 does not have a composite or HDMI video input. Tyre and brake thermal data from ECUmaster CAN Thermal Cameras arrives over CAN bus and is rendered graphically by the ADU’s own processor — not as a raw video feed. Standard video integration requires a separate video mixing system.
Can the ADU-5 replace a standalone data logger?
For most club, time attack, and semi-professional applications, yes. The ADU-5 logs all channels at up to 500Hz to a USB flash drive, including the built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. For professional endurance or top-level data acquisition, teams may pair the ADU-5 for display functions with a dedicated high-channel-count logger.
